Paralyzed, but still Scooting Around Town.

This is Katie, you might have seen her scooting around near Katherine and Duane in Redwood City and wondered exactly what was up with a dog on wheels?

Katie had a bone spur in her spine which caused a fluid pocket around her spinal cord. This led to paralysis of her hind limbs and some bodily functions. Katie is only four years old and loves to scoot around outside. Her impediments create a greater deal of work for her owners as compared to a dog without paralysis. But her owner Rich Silva and his wife see it as a labor of love.

What’s even more amazing is that they adopted Katie after her illness. Her previous owner was going to have her put to sleep, but Rich’s wife knew Katie

prior to this unfortunate event and upon learning of Katie’s fate, asked to adopt her. Now those are people with a big heart. Katie may have been dealt a bad hand with her bone spur, but she got real lucky with the Silvas.

Keep on Trucking Katie.
