Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house
were messes too big to be cleaned by a mouse.
They all came to my home, friends and family alike
they all ate, drank and made a mess all night.
It all seemed like great fun when they were all around,
until the damage I discovered the next morning was found.
Why did they bring so many kids full of joy,
all excited about a shiny new Christmas toy
All hyped up on sugar and their Christmas luck,
these little wrecking crews in my house ran amok.
The parents too distracted by an evening of fun
neglected to keep an eye on their over-active young.
Sticky drinks on my new carpet I had to clean
fresh scratches on my glass table were now easily seen
Worst of all and most painful to me
was a very prominent gouge in my big TV.
So careful are we with our house the rest of the year,
Oh, why did we get infected with Christmas cheer?
The year will pass and I must forget what I can
For next year and I will repeat the whole mess again.
