There's a Jungle in Wellesley Park

Some of you have no doubt seen this Redwood City home around Wellesley and Edgewood Park that boasts one of the lushest gardens anywhere. This mission style inspired home is a classic in our parts and was renovated by its owners Scott and Suzie in the past few years. They made great efforts to repair what needed mending and restored as much of its antique charm as could be salvaged.

The home's interior looks great and they certainly nailed it on maintaining its character, but then they went above and beyond on the garden. Of course, you had to expect this, Scott owns ArtScapes Landscaping which has done some really unique work around Redwood City and San Carlos.

Front of Wellesley Park House

He is by no means a cookie cutter, one size fits all designer. Scott designs and does landscaping, stonework and ponds. When he can do all three for a client, it looks amazing.

His home is surrounded by a wall of lush green vegetation of all sorts. Scott could name them all, I don’t have clue, but for a handful of plants. My favorite area is that around his pond, the plants are colorful, the waterfall and the crystal clear water are magnificent. The attention to detail is spectacular and quite artistic. It is a miniature park within Edgewood – Wellesley Park.

The is even quite an elaborate tree house built into a large tree for his kids to play. He designed his own pond to be sand bottomed so that on hot days his kids can actually jump in it and cool off - beautiful and yet practical!

It’s wonderful to have such a distinctive home in our Redwood City neighborhood, it definitely enriches our area and our walking experience as we pass it. Which of course includes a loose chicken from time to time, but that’s another story!
