Dude, Where's my Car?

The new parking meters downtown are numerous, making it convenient to pay for parking regardless of where you find a space for your car. The problem I had this morning was not finding a parking pay station across the street from Power House Gym, it was instead knowing where I parked. No, I did not loose my car or forget my space number on the way to the meter – not to say that has not happened before.

The problem was that as I stared down at the ground in front of my car, I could not read the number because most of the paint had chipped. So, I walked to the next stall and that parking space number was just as much a mystery as the first one. I moved another spot down the street and the same thing happened. At about the fourth spot from where my car was parked, I could finally recognize what the number was, but I still needed to walk down one more space to determine if the parking stall numbers were increasing or decreasing in the direction of my car.

Normally, I would not have minded this so much, but it was so bloody cold this morning and I just wanted to run inside and stay warm. Then I thought, what if it had been pouring rain? Anyway, here’s hoping Redwood City gets those parking numbers on the curb repainted soon.
