Yesterday’s news was very welcomed. The news was that a local businessman intends to lease the Fox Theatre in Redwood City and live shows should resume this summer. What a great turn of events. It’s a cliché, but it always seems that in movies the image of the local theater going out business represents the decline of a community. Seeing the lights come one again and life being breathed into the Fox will be great psychologically for our citizens and for many of the eateries downtown.

It was reported that the Little Fox will probably resume holding live music and comedy shows in the next couple of months while the Big Fox needs some work and might open towards the end of summer.

A big difference in the overall success of this new business venture is that much of the retail space will be occupied, thus the two theaters will not be the sole revenue source for the owners. I hope everything works out as planned and look forward to once more attending some great events downtown and seeing those neon lights turn back on!
