Fox Theatre in Redwood City closes it doors after foreclosure

It was a sad day for Redwood City when it was announced that the Fox Theatre in downtown Redwood City was officially foreclosed on by its investors. Future shows have all been cancelled at the ‘Big’ Fox and it’s uncertain whether the month’s worth of remaining shows will still perform at the “Little” Fox.

We all knew that the Fox Theatre was in financial trouble for sometime. There was even speculation that the City was going to purchase it. However, in the end, neither the City nor its previous owner were able to

shore up financing to keep the property. The property went up for auction and no one wanted to bid on it since it came with $10M worth of debt.

The big question I would like answered is, what will the City allow there? Can the property be spot zoned for entertainment only or could it be converted or torn down to build something entirely different?
